Anne with an E

The drama is a film genre, in which tragic elements are presented, this causes sensitivity in the viewer and usually the characters discuss with other people, a serie characterized by being of a dramatic genre is Anne with an E.

 What is it?

Anne with an E is a Canadian television program based on the novel of " Anne of Green Gables " written by Lucy Maud Montgomery.

This serie dates back to 1896 when the couple of brothers Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert decide to adopt a boy from the orphanage to help them with the chores of the house and the farm. When Matthew went to the train station to pick up the boy, he realized that the orphanage sent a girl of 13 years old called Anne Shirley. The brothers were surprised and they decided to test Anne for a week to see if they can keep her, Anne begged them because she didn't want to suffer again in the orphanage.

The genre of this serie is drama because it is presenting a conflict in the life of Anne and she faces it  through dialogue.

What I think?

In my opinion, this serie is good, because Anne with an E talks about different problems that are still being fought in this days. It talks about problems like racism, gender inequality, discrimination, homophobia, etc. This problems are talked by Anne with a beautiful poetry, this can show us that the world may be horrible, but the imagination is a refuge in which always we can be happy.

In addition to this serie it talks about people who surround us, and we like to interact with them, our friends, for me the friendship is something essencial in Anne with an E because the characters can teach us the meaning of solidarity, loyalty, love, commitment and sincerity.

Some artistic elements of this serie like the scenery are very simple, but the nature that the farms and the forests show us can give us another panorama to what we are usually used to see in the cities.

For me the best season was the first one because we could know more about the characters, some episodes included comedy apart from the drama shown in the plot. The worst season was the last one because I believe that the producers wanted to finish their final season as soon as possible, so I think they went quickly and they left somme issues unfinished or in doubt.Many people think the same as me and they even have put commercials in the street with the hashtag "#saveannewithane".

The main characters of Anne with an "E" are:

•Anne Shirley Cuthbert- Is a very intelligent girl,who has acquired many skills throughout her life, she likes to express her emotions through poetry, and this character is interpreted by Amybeth McNulty.

•Marilla Cuthbert- She is a demanding and old woman, the actress who brought this character to life is Geraldine James.

•Matthew Cuttberth- He is a quiet, silent and old man, who has a lot of affection for Anne, interpreted by R.H Thomson.

•Gilbert Blythe- Is an intelligent boy and he wants to study medicine and it is characterized by Lucas Jade Zumann.

•Diana Barry- She is a beautiful girl, Diana comes from a very wealthy family and she is the best friend of Anne. The woman who brought Diana to life is Dalila Bela.
